Blog Entry#7:

For this week’s assignment, I decided to compare and contrast Subway and Hungry Bear’s websites. I think it's a really good idea to compare and contrast famous business with local business, I think we can learn how each business does things for the marketing side of owning a business. Since both of these businesses sell the same thing it will be interesting how they sell their product in their way.

While looking at Subway’s website the first things that I see are them informing me that they have the option of going contactless for ordering sandwiches, and how the process is quick and easy. Their other information like the menu, locations, and start order is also one of the first things that I see. So, how they set up on the location of finding important information is well done, because it's on the top of the website, and it immediately catches your eyes. Their color scheme is very simple, they have a white background with dark green and yellow lettering. All of the colors are pleasing to the website, since they aren’t a weird combination of colors nothing seems off about the website. The pictures also remind me that everything that Subways sells is fresh, in one picture you see a man holding a basket full of tomatoes while standing on a farm, in another photo you see subway employees making sandwiches in front of customers. Just these two photos remind me how Subway wants their customers to know that they want them to eat healthily and that they care about what they are putting out into the world.

The first thing that you see on Hungry Bear Deli’s website is one picture of one of their sandwiches, the photo is an up-close of the sandwich, it doesn’t give us a full view of the sandwich. The tabs on top show their hours/location, menus, about, accolades, catering, and order online ta. As you scroll down they mention how they have many great reviews on Yelp and that they have been featured on Channel 10 News for the best sandwiches and subs. The color scheme has a white background, their main colors are dark red and dark green, with white letters. Their website has a pretty nice layout of everything, I would just add more photos of their food, and probably some photos of what the restaurant looks like from the inside.

Both websites have a really good and clear layout of what they want to show to their customers, and they both do it differently. Subway has more of a franchise type of layout that has been done by professionals. Hungry Bear Deli’s website doesn’t have a franchise layout, theirs is more personal. The only real difference between the two websites is that one is a franchise and the other is a mom-and-pop restaurant.

When it comes down to making your website for your business you need to have a great color scheme, an easy way to locate important information about what you are selling, and finally some really good photos of your product. You want your customers to spend time on your website, but also make it clear what you want them to remember your company by.
